Useful next steps
Split a trip without a spreadsheet
If Alex pays 60.00 for three people sharing equally, each person owes 20.00. Blair pays Alex 20.00 and Casey pays Alex 20.00. Add more expenses before calculating to settle the group together.
Give each person the right share
Equal shares divide an expense between everyone listed. Custom shares let you include only the people involved and give them different weights. Weights of 1, 2 and 3 divide a cost into six parts. The payer can be different from the people sharing that expense.
Keep every cent accounted for
Calculations use exact smallest currency units. When a split leaves a remainder, the largest fractional shares receive the remaining units. Ties rotate through participant order across expenses. The final report includes every allocation and a settlement using the fewest payments when anyone can pay anyone directly.
