Useful next steps
Measure the quilt and usable strip length
Enter the rectangular quilt dimensions and extra binding length for corners, tails and final closure. Use strip length after removing selvedges. Strip width is the width to cut, before folding.
Account for every strip join
Enter the length lost at each inter-strip join. Eight 42-inch strips with 2.5 inches lost at each of seven joins give 318.5 inches of usable binding. At a 2.5-inch cut width, those strips need 20 inches of fabric length, before any squaring allowance.
Save the calculation
Download a CSV of the results or instructions, a readable text report and a JSON report with values, formulas and assumptions. Calculations run locally on your device. Unit changes keep the numbers already entered, so check the selected units before using the result.
