Coffee brew ratio calculator
Calculate coffee or water from a brew ratio, then check extraction using measured beverage mass and TDS.
Positive coffee and water masses. TDS is a percentage by mass. Inputs implying more extracted solids than the dry dose are rejected. Change the input or settings to update your result. Results update as you type. Up to 1,000,000 characters.

Useful next steps
Use mass for the ratio
A 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio needs 320 g water for 20 g coffee. The brew water is not necessarily the same mass as the drink in your cup.
Measure extraction separately
Extraction yield uses finished beverage mass multiplied by measured TDS, divided by dry coffee dose. A 300 g drink at 1.35% TDS from 20 g coffee gives 20.25% extraction. It does not score flavor.
