Mind Map Editor

Turn an indented outline into a tidy mind map you can download as SVG. The map comes with Markdown and OPML copies of the outline so you can keep editing it.

Up to 50000 characters, 500 topics, 12 levels and 200 characters per topic. Everything is computed on your device. Downloads are an SVG map, a Markdown outline, an OPML outline and a JSON report. Start with the central topic, then indent or bullet each subtopic beneath its parent. Up to 50,000 characters. Review the settings before running.

  2. List the other topics below it, indenting or using Markdown bullets or headings to nest them.

  4. Download the SVG map, the Markdown and OPML outlines and the JSON report.

Useful next steps

How the outline is read

The first line is the central topic. Indentation nests topics, with a tab counting as four spaces, and only relative indentation counts, so an outline indented as a whole reads the same as one starting at the left edge. Markdown bullets such as - or 1. are removed, and # headings set the level directly, so # is the center, ## its branches and bullets below a heading become its children. The map needs exactly one central topic.

How the map is laid out

Each level forms a column. Topics on the outside of the map are stacked from top to bottom and each parent is centered beside its children, so branches never overlap. The balanced layout puts the first half of the main branches on the right and the rest on the left. Labels wrap at about 240 pixels, estimated from standard Helvetica character widths.

Exports and limits

The Markdown and OPML files contain the same outline in a standard form, and OPML follows the OPML 2.0 specification (opml.org, read 16 October 2026). The report checks your text and topic colors with the WCAG 2.2 contrast formula. Dragging topics by hand is not part of this version; edit the outline and run it again.
