How to use IBAN checker
  1. Paste one IBAN. Spaces, tabs, line breaks and nonbreaking spaces are accepted.
  2. Review the country, required length, national format and checksum results.
  3. If a check fails, verify the number with its source. Download the masked report if needed.

Useful next steps

Check the number's format

Paste one IBAN, with or without spaces. Lowercase ASCII letters are accepted. The tool checks the country prefix, expected length, the letter and digit positions in its national format, and the MOD97 checksum. Results explain which check failed instead of treating every error as the same problem.

Know what a match means

Matching format and check digits can catch common copying mistakes. They do not confirm that a bank, branch or account exists, or that an account belongs to the intended recipient. Country-specific domestic account check digits are outside this checker. A number with a correct global IBAN checksum can still fail a domestic rule.

Keep the account number on your device

No account lookup is made. Processing stays in this tab, and account strings are not included in tool analytics. The downloaded JSON report keeps the country and final four characters, with the rest masked. Clear the input when finished. The bundled country formats come from Swift IBAN Registry release 103, published in September 2026.
