Blind size worksheet
Turn three width and three drop measurements per window into order sizes for recess-fit and face-fit blinds, with your blind maker’s deductions and overlaps. Out-of-square windows are flagged before you order.
One window per line, up to 200 windows and 100,000 characters; each measurement above 0 and up to 10 m (about 393.7 in); deductions up to 0.5 m, overlaps up to 1 m and tolerance up to 0.1 m. Calculated on your device; download a JSON report and CSV files of results and order sizes. One window per line: name, Recess or Face, three widths (top, middle, bottom), then three drops (left, middle, right). Up to 100,000 characters. Review the settings before running.

How to use Blind size worksheet
- Measure each window width at the top, middle and bottom, and each drop on the left, in the middle and on the right.
- Enter one window per line with its fit, Recess or Face, followed by the six measurements.
- Choose the unit and enter your blind maker’s recess deductions, face-fit overlaps and an out-of-square tolerance.
- Check the order sizes and flagged windows, then download the worksheet as CSV.
Useful next steps
Recess fit uses the narrowest width
A recess blind must clear the frame at its tightest point, so the worksheet takes the narrowest of the three widths and subtracts your width deduction. For the drop you choose the longest reading, as The Home Depot measuring guide advises (checked 16 October 2026), or the shortest when the blind must clear an uneven sill, then subtract your drop deduction. In the example, the kitchen window is 35.25 in at its narrowest, so it is ordered at 35 in with a 0.25 in deduction.
Face fit adds an overlap
A face-fit blind covers the opening, so the worksheet takes the widest width and the longest drop and adds the extra width and drop you enter. The default 3 in on each follows the Home Depot suggestion of adding about 3 inches for light control and privacy. The lounge window, 60.25 in at its widest, is ordered at 63.25 in.
Out-of-square check
When the three widths or the three drops differ by more than your tolerance, the window is flagged so you can recheck it before ordering. In the example the hall window widths spread by 0.5 in against a 0.25 in tolerance.
Limits
Up to 200 windows and 100,000 characters, each measurement above 0 and up to 10 m. Deductions differ between blind makers and blind types, so the defaults are editable examples, not specifications. Unit conversions use NIST SP 811 factors (checked 16 October 2026).
