## Tool capabilities

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool ID | `add-image-border` |
| Category | image-tools |
| Implementation | Registered implementation. Registration alone is not a production-quality guarantee. |
| Browser execution | Automatic updates after valid input or file selection. |
| Browser processing | Browser; see tool notes for network behavior. |
| HTTP API | /api/v1/tools/add-image-border/run |
| Browser-agent interface | run_current_tool |

### Implementation notes

Runs on your device. Select an image for an automatic preview; settings update the result. Animated WebP produces one still frame.

### Inputs and settings

No free-text input is required. Use the file inputs and/or settings below.

Accepted browser files: `.png,.jpg,.jpeg,.webp`. Choose one file.

Browser file-input limit: 20971520 bytes in total. HTTP limits can differ.

| Setting | Meaning | Control type | Default | Constraints |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `border` | Border width (px) | number | 12 | min=0 max=1000 step=1 |
| `color` | Border color | color | "#ffffff" | |

#### Error and retry handling

Failures return a non-200 status and `error.code` plus `error.message`. Correct invalid input before retrying; retry server-busy responses with bounded backoff. Returned files contain Base64 data, not persistent download URLs. Decode and inspect the output before treating conversion as successful. See the shared API guide for the complete status and timeout rules.

### Browser-agent workflow

1. Open the human page in a browser that supports WebMCP.
2. Discover the interface exposed by that page; use its actual schema.
3. Select files on the page first when the tool requires files.
4. Call `run_current_tool` with valid input and settings.
5. Inspect the returned result or error and the displayed output. Retrieve files from the displayed download links.

Calls do not automatically copy or download results. Browser permissions still apply. Interface availability alone is not proof of successful execution.

### Planning specification

Choose color and width in pixels; expand the canvas evenly; retain transparency inside.

This describes intended requirements. Use the implementation notes, interface schema and observed output to determine current support.

## Page guide

Add a solid border without covering your image.

## Useful next steps

- [Circle crop image](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/circle-crop-image/): Crop a centered circle and download a transparent PNG. ([Markdown](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/circle-crop-image.md))

- [Round image corners](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/round-image-corners/): Give an image rounded corners with a transparent background. ([Markdown](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/round-image-corners.md))

- [Flip image](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/flip-image/): Flip an image horizontally or vertically. ([Markdown](https://happytails.ai/en/image-tools/flip-image.md))

## How to use Add image border

1. Choose a supported file using the drop area or file picker.
2. Review the clearly labeled settings. The preview updates automatically.
3. Compare the result with your original, then download it. Keep the original for further edits.

## What to expect

Add a solid border without covering your image. Choose color and width in pixels; expand the canvas evenly; retain transparency inside.
