Geographic data uses coordinate order, units and reference systems to describe locations. Files that look similar can use different conventions, so a successful parse alone does not establish that points are in the right place.

### Why do points appear in the wrong country?

Swapped coordinate order, incompatible reference systems or wrong units can shift points dramatically. Test a location whose expected position is known.

### Does conversion improve location accuracy?

No. A format conversion preserves or transforms the supplied data; it does not make the original measurement more precise.
