## Tool capabilities

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool ID | `vehicle-depreciation-calculator` |
| Category | calculators |
| Implementation | Registered implementation. Registration alone is not a production-quality guarantee. |

| HTTP API | Not callable through HTTP. |
| Browser-agent interface | run_current_tool |

### Implementation notes

Each editable annual loss rate compounds on the previous year-end value, subject to the entered residual floor. Year zero and every modeled year are retained. This is your scenario, not a market valuation, resale forecast or tax/accounting schedule. Mileage, damage, inflation, sale costs and appreciation are not inferred. Runs locally without uploads. Limit: 500000 combined input characters, 2000 records, 30 tariffs or grades, 30 tiers per tariff and 100 depreciation years. Complete JSON and JSON Pointer CSV exports are each capped at 2000000 characters and CSV at 200000 leaf records. Preview shows 200 report rows. Calculations stop after 10 seconds. Copy result copies the report text; downloads include source inputs, units, assumptions and complete results.

### Inputs and settings

No free-text input is required. Use the file inputs and/or settings below.

| Setting | Meaning | Control type | Default | Constraints |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `purchaseValue` | Purchase value | text | "20000" | |
| `currency` | Currency label | text | "EUR" | |
| `rates` | Annual depreciation rates (%) | text | "20 10 10 10 10" | |
| `residualFloor` | Minimum modeled residual value | text | "1000" | |

### Browser-agent workflow

1. Open the human page in a browser that supports WebMCP.
2. Discover the interface exposed by that page; use its actual schema.
3. Select files on the page first when the tool requires files.
4. Call `run_current_tool` with valid input and settings.
5. Inspect the returned result or error and the displayed output. Retrieve files from the displayed download links.

Calls do not automatically copy or download results. Browser permissions still apply. Interface availability alone is not proof of successful execution.

### Planning specification

Each editable annual loss rate compounds on the previous year-end value, subject to the entered residual floor. Year zero and every modeled year are retained. This is your scenario, not a market valuation, resale forecast or tax/accounting schedule. Mileage, damage, inflation, sale costs and appreciation are not inferred. Processing stays on your device in a cancellable worker with a 10-second timeout. Maximum 500000 combined input characters and 2000 records, with 30 tariffs or grades, 30 tiers per tariff and 100 depreciation years. Guided decimals allow up to six places without thousands separators. Full JSON and JSON Pointer CSV include all source inputs, units, assumptions and results; each file is capped at 2000000 characters and CSV at 200000 leaf records. All tariff totals precede the first 200 detail rows in the parking preview; other tables preview 200 rows. Software bounds are not vehicle capability claims. Results use floating-point arithmetic.

This describes intended requirements. Use the implementation notes, interface schema and observed output to determine current support.

### How to use Vehicle depreciation calculator

1. Enter the purchase value, currency and minimum modeled residual value.
2. Enter one annual depreciation percentage per year, separated by spaces.
3. Review every modeled year, cumulative loss and final value. Download the full scenario.

## Build your own depreciation curve

Each annual rate applies to the previous year-end value. For example, a value of 20000 with rates of 20% then 10% becomes 16000 then 14400. The entered residual floor prevents later modeled values falling below that amount.

### Treat this as a scenario

You supply every annual loss assumption. This calculator does not look up a vehicle, infer market resale prices or calculate tax or accounting depreciation. Mileage, damage, inflation, sale costs and appreciation are outside the model.
