## Tool capabilities

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool ID | `cross-stitch-fabric-calculator` |
| Category | calculators |
| Implementation | Registered implementation. Registration alone is not a production-quality guarantee. |
| Browser execution | Automatic updates after valid input or file selection. |
| Browser processing | Browser; see tool notes for network behavior. |
| HTTP API | Not callable through HTTP. |
| Browser-agent interface | run_current_tool |

### Implementation notes

Find the stitched design size and cloth cut size. Enter 1 for Aida blocks or 2 for evenweave worked over two fabric threads. This setting is separate from the number of floss strands. Changing units keeps the entered numbers. All calculations stay on your device. Download the report for formulas, assumptions and calculated values.

### Inputs and settings

No free-text input is required. Use the file inputs and/or settings below.

| Setting | Meaning | Control type | Default | Constraints |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `stitchWidth` | Design width in stitches | number | 140 | min=1 max=1000000 step=1 |
| `stitchHeight` | Design height in stitches | number | 100 | min=1 max=1000000 step=1 |
| `fabricCount` | Fabric count | number | 14 | min=0 max=1000 step=any |
| `countUnit` | Count unit | select | "per inch" | Allowed: per inch, per cm |
| `threadsPerStitch` | Fabric threads or blocks per stitch | number | 1 | min=1 max=10 step=1 |
| `margin` | Margin on each edge | number | 3 | min=0 max=1000000000 step=any |
| `marginUnit` | Margin unit | select | "in" | Allowed: mm, cm, m, in, ft, yd |
| `outputUnit` | Output unit | select | "in" | Allowed: mm, cm, m, in, ft, yd |

### Browser-agent workflow

1. Open the human page in a browser that supports WebMCP.
2. Discover the interface exposed by that page; use its actual schema.
3. Select files on the page first when the tool requires files.
4. Call `run_current_tool` with valid input and settings.
5. Inspect the returned result or error and the displayed output. Retrieve files from the displayed download links.

Calls do not automatically copy or download results. Browser permissions still apply. Interface availability alone is not proof of successful execution.

### Planning specification

Up to 1,000,000 stitches per dimension, fabric count up to 1,000 and 1–10 fabric threads or blocks per stitch. Assumes equal count in both directions.

This describes intended requirements. Use the implementation notes, interface schema and observed output to determine current support.

### How to use Cross-stitch fabric calculator

1. Enter the measured inputs and select their units.
2. Review the calculated dimensions, counts and rounding.
3. Download the result and verify it against a sample before making the full project.

## Match fabric count to how you stitch

Fabric count is entered per inch or per centimetre. Use one block per stitch for Aida. If working evenweave over two fabric threads, enter two. This is not the number of strands of embroidery floss.

### Add the margins you need

A 140 × 100 stitch design on 14-count Aida measures 10 × approximately 7.1429 inches. A 3-inch margin on every edge makes the cut size 16 × approximately 13.1429 inches. The same design on 28-count evenweave over two has the same size.

### Save the calculation

Download a CSV of the results or instructions, a readable text report and a JSON report with values, formulas and assumptions. Calculations run locally on your device. Unit changes keep the numbers already entered, so check the selected units before using the result.
