## Tool capabilities

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool ID | `brine-concentration-calculator` |
| Category | calculators |
| Implementation | Registered implementation. Registration alone is not a production-quality guarantee. |
| Browser execution | Automatic updates after valid input or file selection. |
| Browser processing | Browser; see tool notes for network behavior. |
| HTTP API | Not callable through HTTP. |
| Browser-agent interface | run_current_tool |

### Implementation notes

Shows both salt/water and salt/total-solution percentages. Mass arithmetic only; this is not a validated curing, fermentation or preservation process. Calculated on your device. Changing units keeps the entered numbers.

### Inputs and settings

No free-text input is required. Use the file inputs and/or settings below.

| Setting | Meaning | Control type | Default | Constraints |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `mode` | Calculate | select | "Make a target brine" | Allowed: Make a target brine, Measure a mixture |
| `basis` | Target salt percentage basis | select | "Salt / total solution mass" | Allowed: Salt / total solution mass, Salt / water mass |
| `water` | Water mass | number | 1000 | min=0 max=100000000 step=any |
| `target` | Target salt percentage | number | 3 | min=0 max=100 step=any |
| `salt` | Salt mass in the mixture | number | 30 | min=0 max=100000000 step=any |
| `massUnit` | Mass unit | select | "g" | Allowed: g, kg, oz, lb |

### Browser-agent workflow

1. Open the human page in a browser that supports WebMCP.
2. Discover the interface exposed by that page; use its actual schema.
3. Select files on the page first when the tool requires files.
4. Call `run_current_tool` with valid input and settings.
5. Inspect the returned result or error and the displayed output. Retrieve files from the displayed download links.

Calls do not automatically copy or download results. Browser permissions still apply. Interface availability alone is not proof of successful execution.

### Planning specification

Water must be positive. Total-solution targets must be below 100%; water-basis targets can reach 100%. Volumes and spoon measures are not used.

This describes intended requirements. Use the implementation notes, interface schema and observed output to determine current support.

### How to use Brine concentration calculator

1. Enter the measurements and assumptions for this recipe or plan.
2. Review the calculated quantities and their stated basis.
3. Download the report and verify it against your measured result.

## Choose the denominator

Three percent of 1,000 g water is 30 g salt. A 3% total solution made from 1,000 g water needs about 30.93 g salt, because the salt is part of the denominator.

### Measure an existing mixture

Enter salt and water weights to see both percentages. The output is a two-component mass balance, not a validated recipe for curing, fermentation or food preservation.

### Save the result

Download CSV and a text or JSON report with the calculation and its assumptions. Processing stays on your device. Check measurements and selected units before using the result.
