## Tool capabilities

| Property | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Tool ID | `manufacturing-takt-time-calculator` |
| Category | business-tools |
| Implementation | Registered implementation. Registration alone is not a production-quality guarantee. |
| Browser execution | Use the visible action or interactive controls. |
| Browser processing | Browser; see tool notes for network behavior. |
| HTTP API | Not callable through HTTP. |
| Browser-agent interface | run_current_tool |

### Implementation notes

Use available production time and customer demand for the same period. Available time excludes breaks and other scheduled nonproduction. Zero demand means no required takt time. This is the pace required by demand, not a forecast of actual production speed.

### Inputs and settings

No free-text input is required. Use the file inputs and/or settings below.

| Setting | Meaning | Control type | Default | Constraints |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `availableTime` | Available production time | text | "420" | |
| `timeUnit` | Time unit | select | "minutes" | Allowed: seconds, minutes, hours |
| `demand` | Customer demand (units) | number | 420 | min=0 max=1000000000 step=1 |

### Browser-agent workflow

1. Open the human page in a browser that supports WebMCP.
2. Discover the interface exposed by that page; use its actual schema.
3. Select files on the page first when the tool requires files.
4. Call `run_current_tool` with valid input and settings.
5. Inspect the returned result or error and the displayed output. Retrieve files from the displayed download links.

Calls do not automatically copy or download results. Browser permissions still apply. Interface availability alone is not proof of successful execution.

### Planning specification

Use nonnegative values with at most six decimal places and whole unit counts up to 1,000,000,000. Time inputs are converted to seconds, with a maximum of 1,000,000,000 seconds. Ratios are rounded to six decimal places; JSON and CSV preserve the calculated values and assumptions. Processing stays on your device.

This describes intended requirements. Use the implementation notes, interface schema and observed output to determine current support.

### How to use Takt time calculator

1. Enter the available production time after breaks and other scheduled nonproduction.
2. Enter the customer demand for that same period.
3. Calculate required seconds per unit and units per hour, then download the report.

## Demand sets the required pace

Divide available production time by demand. For 420 available minutes and demand of 420 units, takt time is one minute per unit. This is the required pace, not measured cycle time.

### A zero-demand period has no takt target

The calculator leaves takt time undefined when demand is zero. It does not invent a zero-second target. Use matching time periods and exclude breaks consistently.
